brunch is better than...

This weekend, we caught up with friends who were also not able to escape the madness of our city.

While hooligans were protesting the G20 in the main core of Toronto, we were having brunch on the west end.

Brunch, is so much better than
this. I hope you were all safe this weekend.

kitty buds!!!

I was walking home with my friend when she found a Starbucks Card lying on the side of the road. We didn’t think much of it, but she called to see what the balance was on the card. Guess how much was on it? Thirty Five Dollars! We couldn’t believe it! For fun, she suggested we use it all up on my birthday (which was a couple of days ago), and this was our loot! We were giggling the whole time at how ridiculous this was, but we have to do ridiculous things sometimes!

And while we were eating our Starbucks lunch in the park, we felt the earth shaking a little bit beneath us. It was tremors of an earthquake!!! Did you feel it?

When I got home, I found a sweet, unsigned package on my mailbox; it only said “Happy Birthday Celine!” I was so delighted, and I was curious as to who it was from! I got a pretty good idea when I saw what was inside! (A piece of kitty buds fabric from Melinda!! Thank you Melinda!! You are the sweetest!)

It turned out to be a pretty good day. Thanks everyone!

I feel extremely lucky to win Elizabeth Dunker's giveaway she hosted awhile ago. It is a print from her shop and brand Fine Little Day!

I am a huge fan of Elizabeth's art and creations, but most of all, her photography of her everyday life is a huge inspiration to me.

I love this print "Baboab". I already have a frame picked out for it. I have been collecting things to hang on our empty walls for awhile now, and I can't wait to find the perfect spot for it!

Thank you so much
Elizabeth!

Tuesday Night

the Farmer's Market

market pastries

yum!

There is a man who sells pies at the Trinity Bellwoods Farmers Market every Tuesday.
Tonight, we had Chicken Pie. I would recommend it. It was delicious.

As long as the market is open, I plan to get a pie every week.
So I declare Tuesday night to be,

pie night!

(The pies are from
Saucier Foods Inc., and the man is Roger Wils.)

Thank you to those who came to the Yardsale Trunk Show yesterday! I had so much fun meeting you, and taking pictures of you at the photobooth. And thank you for all your donations to Sketch!

I want to give a huge thank my handy husband Jinny, for setting up the photobooth with me. I really couldn't have done it without him! He stayed for the entire show, which I am so happy about, because he got to put faces to names of people I have been mentioning to him at home!

I am looking through the photos from the photobooth tonight, they will be posted on they workroom's flickr soon.

One last 'thank you'! I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your wonderful response to the photos I took of Nikole's home, and the quilt I made for Pandora. I had so much fun doing both of these projects, and I am flattered you like the outcome.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

nikole's home

hello nikole

Nikole of Herriott Grace asked me to take photos of her lovely home for a Design Sponge sneak peak.

Nikole is a dream to work with; we both had a lot of fun doing this shoot! She made my job so easy, as her home is so effortlessly beautiful! We finished these shots a couple of weeks ago, but I couldn’t tell you about it until now. I am so happy to finally show you!

Go see Nikole’s home, here.

Next sunday, I will be participating in The Workroom's Yardsale Trunk Show! There will be vendors selling their crafty handmade goods, and also amazing rummage goods too! This is going to be the biggest Trunk Show yet, as there will be vendors filling the store, and the beautiful backyard too!

Rosalyn and I are setting up a photobooth, and I will be taking pictures of you, and your crafty goodies from the show! The photobooth will be taking donations for Sketch, an organization that creates opportunities for street involved and homeless people to engage in the arts in the community.

So please come by the Trunk Show on SUNDAY JUNE 13th (12pm - 5pm) at The Workroom, and let me take your picture!

Pansies for Pandora

fini

quilt top

to Pandora

Pandora's quilt is finally complete. I started it more than a year ago and I worked on it at an even pace. When it was finally done, I was really sad to see it go.

I was inspired by the Pansies I planted in our flower box when I made the pattern for the quilt top. I later found out that the name Pansies is derived from the French word "pensée" (to think) (correction! It means 'thought/mind'. thanks Danielle!), and the meaning of the flower is "you occupy my thoughts".

I was able to incorporate that into her quilt, her embroidery is what I was working on when I was
sitting in the park. It is very true, I always think a lot about the person I am making a quilt for.

cheque please

Is it June already? Where has the year gone? Time is flying by too fast!

We had lunch with my friend from school, we haven't seen him in awhile.
Summer is great for having lunch with friends. I have my bike and I can go a little further to meet friends that work beyond walking distance from me.

We went to
Sadie's Diner, a great vegetarian diner that I didn't notice was vegetarian until the 3rd time I went! I like that they are so casual about being vegetarians, and they don't make it an obvious feature (or at least, not obvious to me). Sometimes, I wonder if I could be a vegetarian, but then I just had a delicious meat pie last night....so...perhaps not?
